So I had a day off work today as I got up this morning in a lot of pain and literally could not walk. I could not see myself @ work at all as only a trip to the loo first thing has proven to be a challenge.
I have iced the knee all day and kept it straight up on the sofa... Been on the net all day and only time that I had walked was to get some water. I was hoping that by 4pm I would see a slight improvement, but nope, as soon as I attempted to stand up and walk - the pain has pierced entire leg and hips.
Decided to definitely got A&E and get a second opinion. Got there just after 5 (after Tim had picked Meda up from afterschool club) and it wasn't long till I got seen.
Doc has checked the leg and knees and he said that most likely that the injury was caused by me putting too much strain on the legs ( starting to run 5k straight on a hard surface outside maybe wasn't the best idea). He also said that I may position my legs incorrectly when running which then puts a lot of pressure on the knees hence the injury.
I didn't really understand what he was on about most of the time, but all I know that there is no ligament damage and all hamstrings are fine so he said that I should be pain free in couple of weeks in which I should ensure that I don't train at all.
I am thinking going swimming to build up a muscle round the knees; well maybe just support and strengthen the muscles round the knees and then introduce a bit of jogging now and then.... Hope to be back in the game in 3 -4 weeks time =]
I am feeling relieved, that there is nothing serious and frustrated that my doctor is obviously completely useless and talks poop just to ensure that I shut up and get out from his office sooner than later so he can finish work. Fair enough, I saw him 5 PM on a Monday night, but in all fairness he is getting paid VERY well for what he does so I would really appreciate if he could provide a competent and fair answer. And if he doesn't know what is wrong with me ( it is OK not to know about everything) - please, just refer me to someone who does!
Anyways, rant over! I have been seen and I am OK. So, no doubt I will be back in the game sooner than later my lovely people! You wont get rid of me so easy! I am deffo going to stick with this and complete the RFL 2011 and raise as much moneys as I possibly can to help those in need!
Lots of love

Injury
I am so annoyed. Angry even.
We ran at the Parkrun this Saturday just gone and I was beating my personal best. I had done 2 laps on just under 21 minutes so I had a good chance of getting 5k run done in 30 mins! That would have been my personal best from 34:09mins. However, as soon as we started the 3rd lap I had felt my knee going funny and sore. As we stopped and I carried on walking the rest of the lap it just got worse and I ended up limping about.
I had finished my 5k in just over 38mins. Considering that I had walked the last lap with a sore leg I think I may have done OK ..... haha!
As soon as I got home I had a nap cos I was rather annoyed, angry and even teary and once I had woken up I did put some ice on it etc. It has gotten worse by then.
I had spent all weekend pretty much in pain and limping so I went to see my GP today and they said that I will not bee allowed to run for at least 6 months! I was a bit surprised by such a statement when he couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong with the knee. He said that I may not even be able to walk it.
Now I am sorry, but that is load of poop. There is no way that I will cancel my sponsorship for RFL 2011! I had spoken to people and they just said to rest the knee for couple of weeks and I should be OK.
I think I may be going for a swim at the weekend, just to strengthen the muscles round the knee etc so I hope to be fit enough to run again in couple of weeks.
I really hope that this blimming pain goes away soon as it is very annoying and is slowing me down lots. I had walked home from work and distance that I normally takes me 10 mins took me over 30 mins today. I am very frustrated as I dont seem to be fit enough to do the housework etc ( and I am not using this as an excuse - promise) ...
Well.... I will have to see how it goes and I hope it will get better soon so I can run the RFL. If not - I will make sure that I will walk it! =]

Friday 4 March 2011
I have finally done it!
I have been out of contact for a while and I am sorry to have not provided an update. I had lots going on and was very busy with college work, travelling to London (twice in 2weeks), watching Lion King and having my little girls 7th birthday. I sure have been a little busy bee =] in fact not so sure if that little ... haha!
However - I have some fab news - I have finally started training - I have ran 5k now twice - thanks to @kilnockers AKA Sarah Gray; she has persuaded me to come to the Norwich Parkrun in Eaton park for 9AM Saturday.
I have to say - I have not been impressed the first time I had attended - it was cold and windy, but I braved it and ran. And then walked. And then ran again... oh dear, what a chore was that?! I was huffing and puffing all the way and was completely out of breath. We nearly got outrun by 2 ladies in their 50's and it just shown me how unfit I am.
First time I managed to finish in 34:09 mins and was 180th out of 188 people that ran that morning. Wasn't very impressed to start with, but I have received a lot of support and encouraging from people around me and once I had time to chill out I realized that I had actually done rather well - at least by not giving up and carrying on to run. I felt a lot better for it later and had a very high sense of achievement which then has motivated me to carry on and run again next week!
Don't even ask how I felt few days after the run - I could not walk! I then started to have my doubts if I want to repeat the run!
photo of me I must admit! haha!
However, by the following Saturday the pain had gone and I felt fine, but as soon as I got to the park it started to rain and it had rained all night before so it was all wet and horrible. I still went ahead ran. I felt a lot better for it and done first 2 laps within 24 minutes, however the third lap I was so tired and out of breath that I had to walk most of it. That unfortunately brought my time down to 34:24mins. I am still within 24 mins bracket which is OK and considering the rain I think I have done well. This time I was 167th out of 182 runners in total. Still towards the end, but with a slight improvement :)
I was supposed to run few times this week, but it seems that there is always something that comes up or gets in the way. I am hoping that next week I will have more time to spare so can run in between Saturdays!
I am actually looking forward to tomorrow, even though I do honestly hate running, it makes me feel good after and I feel that I had done something worthy and useful with my time! =]
I am also looking to find a local gym that could sponsor me while training for the mighty RFL and let me train in their facilities. That way I could improve my fitness and maybe even give up smoking for RFL in May.
So far I have raised £40 on my Just Giving site so would really need to get people donating..... =] Pretty please???? =] A little bit concerned that I have not yet received my information and sponsorship pack from RFL as I had signed up over 4 weeks ago. Just need to get some time to call them and clarify what is going on I suppose...
Other than that - all is good - as always! =] Looking forward to spending the weekend over my partners parents and the rest of his family and then a spot of shopping with my family on Sunday!
I hope you will have a fantastic weekend =] oh, and please - don't forget to sponsor me! =]
Much love to all! xxxxxxx
